What do we learn from "Tov Ayin Hu Yevorach"?

1.

Sotah 38b: We read this Yevarech (he will bless). We give the cup (to lead Birkas ha'Mazon) only to one with a good eye (i.e. he delights in the good fortune of others).

2.

Nedarim 38a: Torah was given only to Moshe and his descendants. It says "write for yourself" and "carve for yourself." Just like the carvings belong to Moshe, also the writing.

Moshe was generous and gave the writing to Yisrael - "Tov Ayin Hu Yevorach."

1

R. Yonah: Because it said "Zore'a Avlah Yiktzar Aven" (8), it says "Tov Ayin Hu Yevorach." He is generous, therefore he will succeed. Tov Ayin is one who minimizes his food in order to give to an Oni. Even an Oni financed from Tzedakah, should give Tzedakah from it (Gitin 7b).

2

Malbim: Tov Ayin - one who gave from his bread to the Dal, and did not lend to him with Ribis to make him Rash (refer to 22:7:1:2), the nation will bless him.
