What do we learn from "va'Yir'eh va'Yashav?"?

1.

Radak (27): (a) He saw his evil deeds and contemplated them, that they are evil, and regretted them. (b) He repented from all his sins, and does Mishpat and Tzedakah. He will be rewarded for both of these.

2.

Malbim (27-28): This is a second level of Teshuvah. One who only fixed his deeds, this suffices to live. Here discusses one who looks at his past and regrets it. Then he will live from his past sins ? they are converted to merits 1 . The greater that he sinned, the more merit it will be.

1

This is for one who repents due to love (Yuma 86b), like Malbim says below (refer to 18:30:2:3, 18:30:3:2). (PF)

2)

Why does it say "Chayo"? Above, it says "Chayah"?

1.

Radak: They are the same. The last letter of the root is silent; it can be a Vov or Hei.
