What is the meaning of "Mechurbal"?

1.

Rashi: This is [clothed], like "v'Charbelas'hon" (Daniel 3:21), like Karbelasa (the mane) of a rooster.

Radak: He was wrapped in it, like "v'Charbelas'hon" (Daniel 3:21).

What is "Me'il Butz"?

1.

Radak: This is Efod Bad mentioned in Shmuel II 1 , 6:14. Yonasan translated Efod Bad as Kardut d'Vutz. [Kardut is a robe,] for so he translated Me'ilim (robes) regarding Tamar (ibid. 13:18). Radak (Shmuel II, 6:14) ? however, the Me'il and Efod [of Bigdei Kehunah] in the Torah are different, like the Torah says.

The end of our verse says that Efod Bad was on David! Perhaps it is repeated to teach that he dressed just like the Leviyim. However, why is it called a different name? (PF)

Why does the verse teach about all the Leviyim?

1.

'Rashi': Also they were dressed in linen robes. Because David sang like the Leviyim, also he dressed like them. We find like this in the profane ? the custom of Nochri kings and nobles is to eat with their priests and dress like them!

In Shmuel II, 6:14-15 it says that David ran and danced in front of the Aron with all his strength, and he joined with Yisrael in accompanying the Aron amidst Teru'ah and Shofar blasts. Why is this omitted here?

Malbim (here and Shmuel II, 6:14): Ezra did not repeat what is known from Sefer Shmuel. He teaches only that David dressed like the Kohanim, and not royal clothing, lest he show haughtiness in front of Hashem. This was the third way in which he nullified his honor due to Hashem's honor.

Why does it say "ha'Sar ha'Masa"? Since it is Samuch, the first word should not have the prefix Hei!

'Rashi', Radak: The word [that is Samuch to ha'Masa] is omitted. It should say ha'Sar Sar. The same applies to "ha'Aron ha'Bris" (Yehoshua 3:14) and others like this.

What is "Efod Bad"?

'Rashi': It is like the Kohen Gadol's 1 . It was like two felts ? one in front and one in back. It reaches until his loins. The belt was woven from it itself, and he girds with it.

2.

Rashi (Shmuel II, 6:14), Radak: It is a linen robe. Yonason translates Efod to be Kardut like he translates Me'ilim 2 (robes) regarding Tamar (13:18).

3.

Radak (Shmuel II, 6:14): It is a garment worn for honor. There were find 85 Kohanim "Nosei Efod Bad" (1:22:18). It was not one of the Bigdei Kehunah, so even a Zar could wear it.

Malbim says that it was on the Me'il, like Kohanim wear. Perhaps he means like Kohanim Gedolim wear. Or, Kohanim (even Hedyotim) used to wear it not at the time of Avodah (PF).

Our verse already taught that David was wearing a linen robe! Refer to 15:27:2:1*.
