SUMMARY

1. Rava discusses the issue of burials on Yom Tov.

2. There is dispute about the extent of the allowance for Jews to bury a Jew on the second day of Yom Tov.

3. Rava: One may make an Eruv Tavshilin on the first day of Yom Tov (outside of Eretz Yisrael).

4. There is a dispute about whether this principle (#3) applies on the first day of Rosh Hashanah.

5. There is a dispute about whether a chick born on Yom Tov is Muktzah, as it was not a usable item when it was still inside the egg, before it hatched.

A BIT MORE

1. A person who died on the first day of Yom Tov should be buried by Nochrim on that day. A person who died on the second day of Yom Tov may be buried by Jews, even on the second day of Rosh Hashanah.

2. Mar Zutra: This may be done only when the dead body is deteriorating to the point that it will start smelling if it is not buried on the second day of Yom Tov. Rav Ashi: It is permitted to perform the burial in the usual manner on Yom Tov, as if it was a weekday, regardless of the condition of the body.

3. He states, "If today (Thursday) is the actual day of Yom Tov, then I do not need an Eruv Tavshilin. If today is not the actual day of Yom Tov, then Yom Tov has not yet arrived and I hereby make this food my Eruv Tavshilin."

4. Since there is a concept that both days of Rosh Hashanah are like one long day, this condition would not be applicable.

5. However, everyone agrees that one may slaughter a calf that was born on Yom Tov, since it could have been eaten when it was inside its mother, if its mother was slaughtered on Yom Tov.
