SUMMARY

1. If the leg of a fetus of an animal protrudes from the mother, even if it is reinserted prior to Shechitah, the portion of the leg that was outside the mother is prohibited, while the rest of the fetus is permitted.

2. If the head of a fetus protrudes from the mother, even if it is reinserted prior to Shechitah, it is considered to have been born; the fetus is not permitted.

3. A woman pregnant with twin boys is giving birth for the first time. The first baby to emerge is a Nefel, a stillborn, but his head emerges while he is still alive. The second boy is born alive. The second boy is the Bechor for inheritance, but not for Pidyon ha'Ben.

4. A woman pregnant with twin boys is giving birth for the first time. The first baby to emerge is a Nefel, whose head emerges after he dies. The second boy is born alive. The second boy is the Bechor for inheritance, but not for Pidyon ha'Ben.

5. If the amniotic sac of an animal partially exits the womb, the fetus does not become permitted with the Shechitah of the animal.

6. The leg of a fetus protrudes from the mother, and it retracts it back into the womb prior to the Shechitah of the mother. Only the portion of the leg of the fetus that protruded is prohibited, but the portion that remained inside is permitted.

7. The leg of a fetus protrudes from the mother and is cut off prior to the Shechitah of the mother. The leg is Tamei and is forbidden to be eaten.

8. The leg of a fetus protrudes from the mother and is cut off only after the Shechitah of the mother. The flesh of the animal is Tamei as a result of coming into contact with a Neveilah, according to Rebbi Meir.

9. According to the Chachamim, if the leg was cut off after Shechitah, the flesh of the animal becomes Tamei only with the Tum'ah of something that came into contact with a slaughtered Tereifah.

10. If a fetus with non-split hooves, such as a camel, is found inside a Kosher animal that was slaughtered, the fetus may be eaten even according to Rebbi Shimon.

11. Ma'aser Sheni or Bikurim that are taken out of Yerushalayim may be eaten if they are brought back into Yerushalayim.

A BIT MORE

1. Since the limb was outside the mother, it does not become permitted with the Shechitah of the mother, but the rest of the fetus becomes permitted.

2. Only an unborn fetus is permitted with the Shechitah of the mother. Once its head protrudes, it is considered to have been born.

3. The firstborn who is not a Nefel is the Bechor for inheritance, and he receives a double portion in the inheritance of his father. However, he is not the Bechor for Pidyon ha'Ben, since the head of his twin brother emerged first and he was considered to have been born.

4. Even though the first twin whose head emerged had already died, the second twin is not the Bechor for Pidyon ha'Ben, but only for inheritance.

5. Even the portion of the amniotic sac which remained inside the animal is prohibited, because there is a possibility that the portion that left the animal contained the head. Once the head protrudes, the animal is considered to have been born.

6. If the leg remained outside the mother at the time of the Shechitah, the portion of the limb that is on the threshold of the womb is prohibited. Therefore, a small portion of the leg that was inside the animal also must be cut off.

7. An Ever Min ha'Chai from an animal conveys Tum'as Neveilah like a limb from a dead animal.

8. Since the leg was outside the mother at the time of the Shechitah, it is considered an Ever Min ha'Chai and conveys Tum'as Neveilah. Since it was cut off only after Shechitah, the rest of the animal that touched it becomes Tamei, according to Rebbi Meir.

9. According to the Chachamim, although the Shechitah does not permit the protruding leg to be eaten, it is Metaher it from the Tum'ah of Neveilah, just as the Shechitah of a Tereifah is Metaher it from the Tum'ah of Neveilah even though it does not permit it to be eaten.

10. Rebbi Shimon rules that if an animal is born with non-split hooves, it may not be eaten, even though it was born to a Kosher animal. However, Rebbi Shimon agrees that if it had not yet been born and was found inside the mother after Shechitah, it may be eaten.

11. However, if Kodshim Kalim are taken out of Yerushalayim, they become Pasul with Yotzei and may not be eaten even if they are brought back into Yerushalayim.
