SUMMARY

1. Rav maintains that a person who does Teshuvah while he is young is fortunate.

2. A person shall not be like a servant who serves his master on condition to receive a reward.

3. A person should learn the portion of Torah which interests him.

4. A person should first learn a lot of Torah superficially from his Rebbi before he delves into it more deeply.

5. Someone who learns a lot of Torah at one time will not have success.

6. A person should learn Torah from more than one Rav.

7. A person should divide his time and dedicate a third of his time to Mikra, a third to Mishnah, and a third to Talmud.

8. A student who has not yet reached the age of forty should not render decisions in Halachah.

9. A person who occupies himself with Torah will have material success.

10. One is forbidden from deriving benefit from something that was made to service an Avodah Zarah only after the Avodah Zarah has already been worshipped.

A BIT MORE

1. Teshuvah that is done while a person still has strength is a more sincere Teshuvah.

2. A person should serve Hashem out of love and not for the reward.

3. If a person learns the portion of Torah which does not interest him, he will not have success.

4. A person should take advantage of his Rebbi while he is still available and learn as much Torah as possible before he delves into it more deeply. Furthermore, only after a person learns a lot of Torah is it possible for him to reach a deeper understanding of the Torah that he has learned.

5. If someone learns a lot at a time, he will not be able to review it as much as he should, and eventually he will forget what he learned.

6. The need for more than one Rav is in order to acquire a deeper understanding of what one has learned. When one learns with a superficial understanding he should learn from only one Rav so that he does not confuse the Lashon.

7. A person should learn Mikra two days, Mishnah two days, and Gemara two days.

8. However, once a person reaches the age of Hora'ah and is fit for Hora'ah, he is obligated to render Halachic decisions. Even if a person has not reached the age of Hora'ah, if there is no one in the city greater than he, he may render Halachic decisions.

9. This is learned from the Torah, Nevi'im, and Kesuvim.

10. Rebbi Yishmael and Rebbi Akiva disagree about whether an Avodah Zarah that is made by a Nochri becomes forbidden immediately. They agree that something which was made to service an Avodah Zarah is not forbidden until the Avodah Zarah is worshipped.
