ZEVACHIM 120 (30 Av) - Dedicated l'Iluy Nishmas Esther Chaya Rayzel (Friedman) bas Gershon Eliezer (Yahrzeit: 30 Av, Yom Kevurah: 1 Elul) by her son-in-law, Eli Turkel of Raanana, Israel. Esther Friedman was a woman of valor who was devoted to her family and gave of herself unstintingly, inspiring all those around her.

SUMMARY

1. If Kodshei Kodashim are slaughtered in the south of the Azarah, the laws of Me'ilah still apply.

2. Kodshei Kodashim that were slaughtered in the south of the Azarah and were placed on the Mizbe'ach should be removed, according to Rabah. According to Rav Yosef they must not be removed.

3. If an Olah slaughtered on a Bamas Yachid was brought into the Ohel Mo'ed and then taken out again, there is a doubt about whether the laws of a Bamah Gedolah apply.

4. Rav and Shmuel disagree about whether a Korban which is brought on a Bamas Yachid may be slaughtered at night.

5. Rav and Rebbi Yochanan disagree about whether an Olah which is brought on a Bamas Yachid requires Hefshet and Nitu'ach.

6. A Bamah Gedolah requires Keranos, a ramp, a Yesod, a Kiyor, and it must be square. These requirements do not apply to a Bamah Ketanah.

7. If an animal developed a Mum or became Pigul, Nosar, or Tamei, even if it is a Korban which is brought on a Bamas Yachid it is Pasul.

8. A non-Kohen may bring a Korban on a Bamah Ketanah, but he may not bring a Korban ha'Of on the Mizbe'ach.

A BIT MORE

1. Kodshei Kodashim slaughtered in the south of the Azarah are Pasul. Nevertheless, they do not have the same status as Kodshim which were choked to death, in which case the laws of Me'ilah no longer apply.

2. Rabah maintains that Kodshim which became Pasul in the Azarah and were placed on the Mizbe'ach are not removed. Kodshim which were slaughtered in the south are like animals that were choked to death, and they must be removed from the Mizbe'ach.

3. This doubt applies only according to the view of Rebbi Elazar, who maintains that in the case of an Olah slaughtered on a Bamas Yachid and brought into the Ohel Mo'ed, the laws of a Bamah Gedolah apply. It is a doubt according to both Rabah and Rav Yosef. The doubt according to Rabah is that perhaps only the Mizbe'ach is not Mekadesh items which are not fit for the Mizbe'ach, but the Mechitzah of the Ohel Mo'ed is Kolet even Korbanos which are not fit for the Ohel Mo'ed. The doubt according to Rav Yosef is that even though the Mizbe'ach is Mekadesh items which were slaughtered in the south of the Azarah, perhaps that is because it is still in the same location, but the Mechitzah of the Ohel Mo'ed is not Kolet Kodshim which are not slaughtered in the Ohel Mo'ed.

4. Even according Rav, who maintains that Korbanos which are brought on a Bamas Yachid may be slaughtered at night, if one sanctified the Korban with intent to bring it on a Bamah Gedolah, even if it is brought on a Bamah Ketanah it may not be slaughtered at night.

5. The disagreement between Rav and Shmuel is in accordance with Rebbi Yosi ha'Glili, who maintains that the Olah which Yisrael brought in the Midbar did not require Hefshet and Nitu'ach, until the Ohel Mo'ed was established. According to Rav, even after the Ohel Mo'ed was established, an Olah which was brought on a Bamas Yachid did not require Hefshet and Nitu'ach. Rebbi Yochanan disagrees.

6. The Chazeh and Shok of a Shelamim that is brought on a Bamah Gedolah is given to the Kohen, but not the Chazeh and Shok of a Shelamim that is brought on a Bamah Ketanah.

7. The Pesul of Yotzei does not apply to a Bamah Ketanah.

8. A Mum does not invalidate a Korban ha'Of unless it is missing a limb.
