ZEVACHIM 98 (8 Av) - Dedicated l'Iluy Nishmas Mrs. Lily (Leah bas Pinchas) Kornfeld, who passed away on 8 Av 5765. Dedicated by her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Andy Koenigsberg and family. May Lily and her husband's love for Torah and for Eretz Yisrael continue in all of their descendants.

SUMMARY

1. The Chelev and Shtei Kelayos of the fetus of an Asham are not offered on the Mizbe'ach, because an Asham is always a male. The law for a fetus of every other type of Korban is derived from an Asham.

2. The offspring of Kodshim become holy only at birth.

3. If a person designated two animals for a Korban in the event that one becomes lost, the remaining animal is not burned.

4. If a Korban becomes Pigul, the Nesachim become Pigul as well.

5. A Korban or a Minchah that comes into contact with another Korban or Minchah absorbs from the other Korban and takes on the same status.

6. All Korbanos must be brought from Chulin, during the day, and with the right hand of the Kohen.

7. The bones of Korbanos are permitted, and utensils may be made from them.

8. Rava says that if the blood of a Chatas splatters on a garment, and the blood of an Olah splatters on top of it, the garment must be washed in the Azarah. If, however, the blood of the Olah splatters before the blood of the Chatas, it does not need to be washed.

9. Blood and grease on a garment is regarded as a Chatzitzah that prevents proper immersion in the Mikvah. However, if the owner of the garment is a butcher or a grease merchant, it is not a Chatzitzah.

10. If the owner of a garment is both a butcher and a grease merchant, and his garment is stained with both blood and grease, there is a doubt about whether it is a Chatzitzah.

11. A Kohen who is a Tevul Yom, a Mechusar Kipurim, or an Onen does not receive a portion of the meat of Korbanos to eat it in the evening.

12. A Kohen who is a Ba'al Mum receives a portion of the meat of Korbanos, but he may not do the Avodah.

13. Any Kohen who is not fit to do the Avodah does not receive a portion of the Korbanos.

A BIT MORE

1. Although it is impossible for an Asham, which is a male animal, to have a fetus, while it is possible for other Korbanos to have a fetus, the law for other Korbanos, that no part of the fetus is offered on the Mizbe'ach, is derived from an Asham .

2. Therefore, no part of the fetus of a Korban is offered on the Mizbe'ach.

3. The Nosar of a Korban is burned. All Korbanos are learned from Milu'im. A live animal which is Nosar is not burned.

4. One who eats the Nesachim of a Korban which is Pigul is Chayav Kares, just as he is Chayav Kares for eating the flesh of the Korban.

5. If the Korban is Pasul, the portion of the Korban which absorbed from it becomes Pasul. If the Korban may be eaten for only one day, the portion of the Korban which absorbed from it also may be eaten for only one day.

6. A Korban Yachid may not be bought from money of the Tzibur or from money of Ma'aser Sheni.

7. Even the bones of an Olah are permitted, in spite of the fact that the entire animal is offered on the Mizbe'ach.

8. Although the blood of the Chatas came into contact with the garment, it is not necessary to wash it, since the garment is already saturated with the blood of the Olah and the blood of the Chatas is not absorbed in the garment.

9. A stain is not a Chatzitzah unless the owner is Makpid, or unless the stain covers the majority of the garment. If the owner is a butcher or a grease merchant, he is not Makpid on a stain.

10. It is possible that a person is Makpid when there are different types of stains on his garment, such as blood and grease, even though his occupation involves those two items.

11. A Kohen who is a Tevul Yom or a Mechusar Kipurim is permitted to eat Kodshim in the evening. Nevertheless, since he may not eat from the Korbanos at the time the Korbanos are brought, he is not given a portion to eat in the evening.

12. A Kohen Ba'al Mum is permitted to eat the meat of Korbanos, whether he has a temporary Mum or a permanent Mum. Therefore, he is given a portion from the Korbanos even though he is forbidden to do the Avodah.

13. A Kohen normally receives a portion of the meat of Korbanos and a portion of the hides. A Kohen who is not fit to perform the Avodah receives neither meat nor hides.
