YEVAMOS 98 (14 Sivan) - Dedicated by Doug Rabin in memory of his mother, Leah Miriam bat Yisroel (Lucy) Rabin, in honor of her Yahrzeit. |
|
SUMMARY
A Nochri father is not regarded as a father at all, even if there is no doubt about the lineage. A Ger is permitted to marry the wife of his deceased brother who married her before he became a Ger. Yonah merited prophecy only twice. A Talmid Chacham who cites a Halachah is believed only if he cites the Halachah prior to its relevancy. (1) A Ger who was conceived while his mother was a Nochri and born when she was a Jewess is related to the relatives of his mother, but not to the relatives of his father. (2)
A BIT MORE
1. However, if he cited another Halachah along with it, he is believed regarding both Halachos, even though he did not cite the Halachah prior to its relevancy. 2. Rebbi Meir: If he marries the sister of his mother from her father, he must divorce her. Chachamim: He may stay with her.
