A BIT MORE
1. This is despite the fact that belonging to this year is normally determined by when it is harvested. 2. Even though most of the winter period is still yet to come (see Daf 14, #1) after the first or fifteenth of Shevat (since there are two months of Adar), the date of the new year stays the same. 3. Some say that it is when it blossoms (like a fruit), and some say that it is when it is harvested (like a vegetable). 4. Rebbi Yochanan says that even if an Esrog was only the size of an olive before Shemitah, and on Shemitah it grew to the size of a loaf of bread, it has the laws of the sixth year. 5. Rebbi Nechemyah maintains that blossoming determines the year of a fruit only if it is the type of tree whose fruits ripen at different times in the year. However, for a tree which has fruit which all ripens at approximately the same time, even if it blossomed before the fifteenth of Shevat it is considered fruit of the next year.
