SHEVUOS 7 (17 Kislev) - Dedicated by Libi Astaire in honor of the Yahrzeit of her father, Moshe ben Eliyahu Feinberg z'l.

SUMMARY

1. From the extraneous word 'Behemah,' Rebbi learns a Gezeirah Shaveh that someone who is Tamei and eats Kodesh b'Shogeg is Chayav to bring a Korban Oleh v'Yored.

2. The Torah states Kerisus three times in the Parshah of Shelamim: one is for a Klal and one is for a Prat.

3. The third time the Torah states Kerisus in the Parshah of Shelamim teaches us that there is a Chiyuv Kares for eating inedible items of Kodesh in a state of Tum'ah.

4. Rebbi Shimon holds there is a Chiyuv Kares for eating a Chatas which is brought in the Heichal in a state of Tum'ah.

5. Rebbi Shimon holds there is no Chiyuv Pigul for a Korban which is not brought on the outside Mizbe'ach.

6. If someone is Tamei from swallowing the Neveilah of a Kosher bird and he eats Kodesh or enters the Mikdash he brings a Korban Oleh v'Yored.

7. If someone eats Kodesh or enters the Mikdash in a state of Tum'ah, if he was aware of the Tum'ah in the beginning and not at the end, the goat which is brought in the Heichal on Yom Kipur together with the day of Yom Kipur protect him from punishment.

A BIT MORE

1. Rava maintains that a Gezeirah Shavah of the word "Tum'aso" teaches that one who enters the Mikdash in a state of Tum'ah must bring a Korban Oleh v'Yored.

2. The Klal refers to all of Kodshim, and the Prat refers to a Korban Shelamim. This teaches that the Chiyuv Kares for eating Kodshim in a state of Tum'ah applies only to Kodshei Mizbe'ach and not to Kodshei Bedek ha'Bayis.

3. These include the wood of the Ma'arachah, the Ketores or the Levonah. However, Rebbi Shimon maintains that there is no Chiyuv Kares for eating inedible items of Kodesh in a state of Tum'ah.

4. Rebbi Shimon learns this from the third time the Torah states Kerisus in the Parshah of Shelamim, since he does not use that verse for inedible items of Kodesh.

5. The Parshah of Pigul in the Torah is recorded in the Parshah of the Korban Shelamim. Therefore, Rebbi Shimon learns that Pigul applies only to Korbanos which are similar to a Shelamim and are brought on the outer Mizbe'ach.

6. The Neveilah of a Kosher bird does not convey Tum'ah via contact; it conveys Tum'ah only when it is swallowed. Although it is a unique form of Tum'ah, it is no different from any other Tum'ah with regard to a Korban Oleh v'Yored.

7. When he becomes aware of his Tum'ah, he must bring a Korban Oleh v'Yored.
