The Gemara says "chatzot". Why do you understand chatzot hayom and not night?

Dear Tuvya,
Only after the answer is it obvious that it's Chatzot of Yom. The Chatzos Yom is 6 hours before sunset and so if that's the Nolad you can see the moon in Eretz Yisroel before sunset in order to be able to be Mekadesh the moon.
