DAF DISCUSSIONS - ROSH HASHANAH 28

Donnie Appel asked:

We try to disprove rabbah by bringing a bearisa that says if someone blew in a pit, if the shofar is heard hes yotzei if its the echo with the shofar he's not, then it says even if the echo is heard with the shofar perhaps he heard the shofar before the echo so he should still be yotzei? The gemorah then changes around rabbah explanation. But according to the rosh's explanation of rav huna on 27b (he explained that someone whos standing outside the pit is never yotzei, and someone whos standing in the pit is always yotzei) how can we ever have the question in the beraisa stated above(that perhaps he heard the shofar with the echo) "memunofshuch" if he's the pit hes always yotzei andif he's out of the pit hes never yotzei!

(Thank you for the help. If my question isn't clear let me know and ill try to ask it better.)

Donnie Appel, Staten Island, New York

The Kollel replies:

The reason he is not Yotze when he is out of the pit is because he hears the noise of the echo. The Gemara is asking that he should be Yotze, because he will hear the noise of the Shofar alone before he starts to hear the echo.
