DAF DISCUSSIONS - SUKAH 28

Sacha Pecaric asked:

My question is,

if malachim don't understand arameic, didn't yonasan ben uziel study Torah in arameic and as Rashi says malachim gathered around him?

Sacha Pecaric, Krakow, Poland

The Kollel replies:

Good question. Although it was Yonasan ben Uziel who wrote the Aramaic translation, when he studied Torah on his own it is likely that he learned in Hebrew. Alternatively, even if he studied in Aramaic, the Malachim were attracted to the great holiness that he exuded when he learned, even though they did not understand what he was saying.
