I assume that Rav Pappa's question if the 4 amos included the amah yesod, means that the kevesh was placed where the yesod would have been, since where the kevesh was, there was no yesod (ie., after the westernmost amah in darom)

That is correct, as the Gemara points out in Zevachim 54a (see Rashi there DH Eima Keneged).
