Stuart Plaskow asked:

Dear Rabbi Kornfeld,

Regarding Betzalel, of whom the Torah describes as being given the spirit of Hash-m, could you please tell me how Bnei Yisroel were able to lift & shift the heavy & massive poroches, at a time before hoists or pulleys or cranes were thought of. Do any meforshim discuss this problem.

Sincerely, Stuart

The Kollel replies:

The Mishnah here in Shekalim 8:5 tells us that 300 Kohanim were needed to immerse the Paroches. (Although the Gemara in Chulin 90b calls that an exaggeration, there is no reason to assume that there weren't between 100-200 Kohanim involved.) Do you have reason to believe that so many Kohanim would not have been able to immerse the Paroches with their joint efforts?

Be well,
