Ican can getting a haircut on erev pesach be asur? it is l'tzarwech haregel. why should it be more chamur that cjol hamoed? even on chol hamoed it should be mutar if it werent for the zilzul of not doing it beforehand!
simcha
Dear Simcha,
The Mishna Brura 468:5 forbids haircuts after Chatzos (except when leaving prison, etc.), because it is a "full Melacha"
Even on Chol HaMoed, a full Melacha is forbidden even for Tzorech HaMoed (only Maase Hedyot is permitted)
Anything permitted on Chol HaMoed is certainly permitted Erev Pesach afternoon, but otherwise after Chatzos is a mini-holiday because of he Korban Pesach and it's too late to take a haircut, you should have done it earlier.
In Hilchos Chol HaMoed the Mishna Brura explains 531:3 differently.Haircuts should have permitted because it's included in fixing his body for the Moed, but it's forbidden in order to get ready before.
All the best,
