A quick note I made when learning Tamid (I think 28a)- that a person who is "mocheah lishmah" receives a "chut shel chesed". We know that Yoseph was mocheach his brothers. As a semach that it was done lishmah, we can look at parshas Vayeshev, when Yoseph was in jail, where the posuk states "Yayait eilav chased ".
