DAF DISCUSSIONS - ERCHIN 9

Richard Yosselman asked:

Hi, please share who the later commentators are and where they wrote it in regards to the seventh Day of Pesach, where you source them here:

From Erchin Insights on the Daf:

"Later commentators have added to the Tur's list, pointing out that the seventh day of Pesach (Zayin) occurs on the same day of the week of the day represented by "Ayin," which stands for "Etz" ("tree") -- Tu b'Shevat (this Siman applies only in non-leap years). Alternatively, it refers to Tu b'Av, the day on which the cutting of the wood for the Mizbe'ach in the Beis ha'Mikdash was completed, which was celebrated as a festive day."

Thanks! I am very interested to know the answer.

The Kollel replies:

I couldn't find the source. I assume the "Alternatively," means either it shares the same day as Tu b'Shevat or Tu b'Av, as this year (5769) the seventh day of Pesach fell on a Wednesday, as will Tu b'Av, while Tu b'Shevat fell on a Monday. Taking a brief look at the calendar, I see that the last three non-leap years it has worked out this way as well (that only Tu b'Av matches).

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
