DAF DISCUSSIONS - ERUVIN 15

asked:

Question:THREE LINES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE DAF RAVA ANSWERS THAT THE CASE IN MESECHES SUCCAH IS REFERING TO CASE WHERE IF THE "SHIPUDIM" WERE LAYED "SHESI"YOU LAY THE KOSHER S'CHACH "URAIV" AND VICE VERSA.NOW THE KOSHER S'CHACH IS MORE THAN THE PASUL BECAUSE THE EDGES OF THE KOSHER REST ON THE "SHIPUDIM".

MY QUESTION IS WHY IS THERE NO PROBLEM OF "MAAMID".THE RABANAN DECREED THAT ANYTHING THAT CAN NOT BE USED FOR S'CHACH CAN NOT BE USED TO SUPPORT THE S'CHACH.IN OUR CASE THE KOSHER S'CHACH IS BEING SUPPORTED BY THE SHIPUDIM.

The Kollel replies:

Indeed, we find that the Mishnah Berurah (OC 629:22) says that Pasul Sechach may not be used to support Kosher S'chach. However:

(a) the Mishnah Berurah says that this Isur it is not so clear, and there are in fact Acharonim who explain that there is no Isur at all, even l'Chatchilah, to support the Kosher Sechach on Pasul Sechach. (This Pesul is not mentioned anywhere in Shas.)

(b) Furthermore, even according to the opinions which forbid supporting Kosher S'chach on Pasul Sechach, it i only forbiddent l'Chatchilah. B'Di'eved everyone agrees that it is valid.
