DAF DISCUSSIONS - ERUVIN 8

moshe rubin asks:

The gemara explains that according to Rava in the Mavui (like a nadal) on should make a tzuras hapesach and leci at either end of the individual mavui's so that you are treating it like a mavui mefulash consistent with Rav. However, didn't the gemara say on 7a that according to Rav, halacha v'ein morin ken, that is that Rav would also require an actual door like R' Chananya by a mavui mefulash?

I apologize if I am just confused. Thank you for your help.

The Kollel replies:

The Gemara (6b) says that Rav rules like the Tana Kama. The Gemara later (7a) says that there is an argument whether Rav indeed ruled like the Tana Kama or he only held it was correct, but practically ruled like Chananyah. In any event, the main opinion of Rav is clearly like the Tana Kama, and the commentaries seem to understand that this is indeed how he ruled (i.e. Shulchan Aruch O.C. 364:1).

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
