In the v'hi notenet, the gemarah slips in the word "nami." The way I am learning it, this is the key word to understanding the objection. In your explanation, the nami does not seem to fit. What are you doing with it? Hatzlacha raba, and thank you.

That is a good point. It seems, though, that the word "Nami" is an improper Girsa. The word does not appear in the text of the DIKDUKEI SOFRIM (Berlin manuscript), and it is omitted by Rashi (here) and Tosfos (11b) as well when they quote this Gemara. Rav Nasan Nata Rabinowitz in his footnotes to the Dikdukei Sofrim points out that the MAHARSHAL seems to have been bothered by the word "Nami" as well. (The Maharshal suggests that it "in addition to a killer b'Shogeg ", not "in addition to a killer b'Mezid.")
