DAF DISCUSSIONS - BAVA BASRA 23

Robert Perry asks:

In my reading from Chabad.org about Jews traveling, as in the Traveler's Prayer, and the associated explanation of "travel laws" (my words), I came across the terms "Mil" & "Amos" in which they are referred to as a measurement of distance. Please direct me to a point of explanation for these terms.

Robert Perry, LaPorte, Indiana, USA

The Kollel replies:

Sholom Rav,

An Amah is between one and a half and two feet (there are two opinions as to the exact measurement).

One Mil is approximately one kilometer.
