On this Page there is a chart that talks about the 3 way Machlokes between R' Meir, Rashba, and Chachomim about Eved K'nani becoming free.

The chart says that according to R' Meir if someone wants to free an Eved using a 'shtar' given to other people it might work but it depends on the following:

If it was done with the will of the Eved, then it won't work.

If it was done against the Eved's will it will work.

I am sitting and trying to sort that and I am thinking that the opposite is true, but I leave that to the Kollel.
