DAF DISCUSSIONS - SHABBOS 90

dovid asks:

The Mishnah says, "Bein she'Hotzi'an Acher, Patur". I don't anderstand what the mishna teaches here. if he is patur by Chozar ve'Hotzi'an when he did everything, certainly he is potur when someone else did the second part. and if 'potur' goes on the acheir, it's also a kol shekain.

Sholom Rav.

Excellent question.

I can think of two possible answers (though I must admit both are a bit of a Dochek).

1. By applying the principle that the Gemara uses when it has no better answer - 'Zu, ve'Ein Tzarich Lomar Zu' (This and no need to mention that).

2. Perhaps what the Mishnah means is that he is Patur if he carries it out, because, since he put it down, it is as if somebody else carried it out.

Dovid adds:

Thanks a lot for your answer. Since I sent the question, I was shown the Meiri on the Mishnah - the order of the words doesn't seem to prevent him from explaining " veloi sof dovor behoitsion acher... eilo afilo chozar hu atsmoi" .. ayen shom.

Kol tuv,

Dovid
