You will find a lengthy discussion of many aspects of the lice issue, including sources, in Rabbi N. Slifkin's "Mysterious Creatures", starting from p. 191. (Be aware that the outlook to this and other Jewish issues represented in the book is not accepted by many Torah authorities of this generation. It is, however, a useful reference for sources.)
