DAF DISCUSSIONS - SHABBOS 82

Adam Felsenthal asked:

Why does it seem that people at the time of the Gemara had a harder time relieving themselves, what with methods to loosen bowels, etc., etc.? Thanks.

Adam Felsenthal

The Kollel replies:

It could be that they indeed had a more difficult time relieving themselves, since their food was different than ours. In truth, though, it seems that in our time as well, the same types of physical problems exist, as is attested to by the abundance of medications for constipation and the widespread use of such medications.

Be well!
