I know that an aliyah is an upper chamber, and probably like a beit midrash of a given rabbi - but how can it have a dirt floor that would make a furrow when a large piece of furniture would be moved. Is this not like a traditional second story where the floor would have to be made from manufactured material?

The Kollel replies:

I did not find anyone who relates to the technical problem you raise. Obviously, the skeleton frame of the building is from manufactured material. However, it seems that very often dirt was used to fill or cover the floor (if not stone).
