DAF DISCUSSIONS - SHABBOS 4

hg asks:

[I will answer you] after you measure for me an amount of salt. 4a

Any drush on what this means by anyone?

hg, ny usa

The Kollel replies:

The Mesivta printing of the Gemara cites Chidushei Rabeinu Perachyah who explains this according to the Mishnah in Avos (6:4). "This is the way of the Torah: You shall eat bread with salt....'" Rav Nachman was hinting to Rava that he would have to sit and learn a lot in order to understand the distinction between the two Halachos that they were discussing. Somebody who learns Torah eats a lot of bread with salt, so Rava must do a lot of learning and eat a lot of salt before he will understand the matter.
