DAF DISCUSSIONS - GITIN 55

Philip Davidovits asks:

In the Gemorro of Kamtzo and bar kamtzo - is anything said on why the gemarra starts "ashrei ish mefacheid tomid" along these lines: P

People talk about kamtzo bar kamtzo and how the rabbis did not say anything . I think that is a "miss". The point is that if a person is afraid of Hash-m every minute, he would not care what the Rabbis do or not do. If he gets embarrassed he would not blame or be angry at people but would rather pray to Hash-m and look at it as part of what he needs for his teshuvah.

Does anyone talk along this line?

Philip Davidovits, Toronto CA

The Kollel replies:

The Meiri in Beis Ha'Bechirah here seems to be alluding to your explanation. He says that a person should forgive and not seek out revenge when embarrassed...and as a note to this the Gemara brought the Pasuk of Ashrei Adam etc.

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
