DAF DISCUSSIONS - GITIN 20

David Wolfsohn asked:

Gittin 20

(d) Rejection: A Get must contain the names of the husband and wife and their cities. A Sefer Torah lacks these.

How should this be ruled in the light of 'Torah Codes' where potentially both husband & wife and their cities might be found 'grouped together' 'in the code', but perhaps not 'visible' in the writing of the scroll itself?

David Wolfsohn, France

The Kollel replies:

The Torah codes do not have anything in common with a law that we must keep in a certain form, which in this instance is that the names must be clearly written in the Get Lishmah.

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
