DAF DISCUSSIONS - GITIN 2

Abe asks:

On the bottom of Gitin 2b we give an answer to Li'Ba'i Trei and we say most people are experts in Li'Shmah. The Gemara then asks what about Rebbi Meir who is Choshesh l'Miuta, the Gemara answers that Stam Sifrei d'Daynei Migmar Gemirei. Rashi explains that we are talking about a bet din appointed sofer who is accustomed to writing a get.

But doesn't the Ba'al usually write the Get? We see this point on the bottom of 29a where we have a case that someone tells a Shaliach to write a Get for him and we say the Shaliach can't appoint another Shaliach. The reason for this according to Abaye is because the husband will be embarrassed if other people know that he doesn't know how to write a Get as rashi explains(DH Bizyon d'Ba'al) that it is on the husband to write the Get. Also Tosfos has a whole question that doesn't the woman write a Get, but basically we see a bet din appointed sofer who is accustomed to writing Gitin isn't really accustomed to writing Gitin because everyone writes their own Get.

And you can't say its on the husband to appoint someone to write the Get because if that were true, why would he be embarrassed if he appointed others?

The Kollel replies:

Abe, Baruch she'Kivanta! Your question is asked by the Nachalas Moshe on 29a, DH Mishum Bizayon d'Ba'al.

He answers that one may suggest that on 29a the husband is telling laymen to write the Get. That is a Bizayon because if he would know how to write a Get he would not have to ask laymen to do so. However, if he would be telling the scribes of Beis Din to write the Get, there would be no embarassment involved, since it is accepted that even someone who knows how to write a Get himself still asks the experts to do it.

I should really write at greater length about this important question, but I want to send it straight away to let you know that your question is asked by the Nachalas Moshe.
