DAF DISCUSSIONS - NAZIR 37

Lester Goldstein asked:

Would the Nazir be forbidden to consume food or drink which were flavored with an imitation grape flavor where the flavoring was not a product of the grapevine but was otherwise kosher?

Lester Goldstein, Pomona, NY USA

The Kollel replies:

There is no reason to prohibit somethat that comes from a permitted product, but tastes like a prohibited product.

The Gemara tgells us in Chulin 109b that certain products taste just like prohibited products, but they are permitted.

Be well,
