Josh asked:

Are there any parshas or halachos (Rambam, Shulchan Aruch, etc.) that i can learn before learning Nedarim so i get an idea of what's going on?

Josh, Marlboro NJ US of A

The Kollel replies:

The best introduction to Nedarim is probably the first Daf of the Gemara with the Ran, as you will see when you learn it.

It is also worthwhile to review the Rambam in Hilchos Shevu'os, first Perek, and Hilchos Nedarim, 1:1-9. We also recommend reading through the Sefer ha'Chinuch, Mitzvah #30.

We will also send you some of our introductory material to Nedarim.

Regarding Rishonim and Acharonim, for an excellent overview of the main Shitos on each Sugya, Sefer Shalmei Nedarim is the classic one on Nedarim. Chidushei ha'Ritva, Rav Kook edition, with footnotes of Rav Aharon Yaffen, zt'l, is also of great benefit.

Of course, we also highly recommend the study material of Dafyomi Advancement Forum.
