DAF DISCUSSIONS - KESUVOS 2

Rafi Magid asks:

The Gemara says: "Rejection: Perhaps the Get is only valid if he dies, since his intention was that his wife should not become subject to Levirate marriage."

If we know that this is the reason - and he intends to uproot mitvat yibum - does chazal permit it?

The Kollel replies:

We find many times in the Gemara that a Get is given in order to circumvent Yibum. There are cases where it is advisable, such as when the Yavam is a Katan or in an unknown location or a Rasha or a Cheresh etc.
