Dear Ian,
Hello there and thanks for your question. On the possuk "v'Hu Na'ar (Breishis 37:2), Rashi explains that he would comb his hair. The Midrash Rabbo adds to this, that he would beautify his eyes. According to the Periush Hameyuchas l'Rashi it means that he beautified and decorated his eyes. Perhaps this means that he applied makeup.
