Rebbi Avahu was a third-generation Amora from Eretz Yisrael, one of Rebbi Yochanan's top Talmidim. He was a Rosh Yeshivah and a Dayan in Keisarin. He was fluent in Greek and was praised for his beauty. He was closely connected to the ruling Romans and worked for the good of Klal Yisrael. He was very outspoken against the Notzrim.
