Id like to know how to reconcile the seemingly contradictory dictings of Raban Gamliel. Because he says that we start asking rain on 7 of cheshvan in light of Rabi Yehuda opinion (as the gemara affirms that the request of rains is on the first date of the reviah, and yet he says a braita which accords with R yossi's opinion, and should instead start on 17th oh cheshvan

Raban Gamliel says Cheshvan 7. But the Beraisa in Rebbi Yosi's opinion is said by Raban Shimon ben Gamliel, a different Tana.
