I dont understand his question, Even if the puncture of the animal's chest was considered a treifa, why is there a problem if it wasnt mentioned by the mishnah? Maybe it is one of the many that were not listed and are included under the seipha of the Mishna???

Dear Avi,
BORUCH SHE-KIVANTA!! Your question is asked by Rabbi Akiva Eiger and he concludes "Tsorich Iyun Gadol" i.e. "THIS REQUIRES GREAT FURTHER RESEARCH"- this is the expression used by R. Akiva Eiger for his most difficult questions. I suggest you learn carefully what Rav Eiger wrote because he suggests a possible answer and then rejects it. See also Tosfos 42a DH Derusas (the second paragraph) and Maharam Shif there that he quotes.
There's just no choice!- even to understand properly R. Akiva Eiger's questions- let alone answering them - you have to work very hard and break your head!
Mazel Tov on asking R.Akiva Eiger's question yourself!

My Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Chaim Ilson presented this answer to Rabbi Akiva Eigars question here.
In a lengthy discussion, Rabbi Gershon Zach z"l said that the 18 treifos mentioned in the mishna are the only treifos that can appear on that body part therefore the only treifa that can be on the Veshes is a Nikuv. This will explain Rav Ukva's question. He asks that if it is true that a nikuv in the kosel in a treifa then it will be the only one that can be in the kosel therefore the mishna has to list it and cannot just be included under the klall of the mishna
Thanks for the help and hope you enjoy this big Chiddush.
