I am wondering why you state that'gali shok' refers to the "calf" of a woman - i understood it to mean davka a thigh - and not a calf, unless you mean the whole leg, which i would still not understand - is the whole leg a shok ?

The Kollel replies:

You are correct that the conventional definition of "Shok" is thigh. See the Background to the Daf there, where we define "Shok" as thigh (see Mishnah Berurah 75:2), or lower leg (Chazon Ish Orach Chayim 15:8).
