Please help clarify this Sugya for me:
Chulin 20b, RASHI DH ha'Hu.
How does Rashi know that Rebbi Yirmeyah holds that there is no Pesul of Ikur "even for Shechitah" of a bird? Perhaps when Rebbi Yirmeyah says that "whatever is valid for Shechitah is valid for Melikah" (and whatever is Pasul for Shechitah is Pasul for Melikah), he holds that Ikur is Pasul for Shechitah as well as for Melikah.
Thank you.
I think the Yavetz addresses your question when he comments on Rashi that this is like the opinion of Rav Papa earlier (20a). Rav Papa clearly learned that Rav Yirmiyah meant that there is no Ikur even for the Shechitah of a bird. It therefore follows that this is the explanation of Rav Yirmiyah unless the Gemara would state otherwise.
