The Gemoro speaks about smearing old and rubbing on Shabbos, and requires a Shinui from normal behaviour during the week.
There is a machlokes whether one should use the opposite order from normal, or do the application and rubbing at the same time.
Am I correct in thinking that the latter opinion (Reb Yochanan, like whom we pasken) is more chomur? (i.e. he forbids just using the opposite order from normal). Mightn't we have thought that the opposite order from normal is more of a Shinui?

I would think that doing both together is the greater Shinui for that changes the Ma'aseh itself since it is no a combination Ma'aseh and is therefore a greater Shinui than merely cchanging the order.
