A simple explanation is that both are possible. A person who is learning Torah is considered bringing Korbanos, and a person who is eating is considered bringing Korbanos. (Of course, there are many different explanations regarding what aspects of Torah learning and of one's table are considered like bringing Korbanos.) I later found that this explanation is indeed given by the Iyun Yakov (97a).

If you prefer to say they must mean one thing, the Maharsha (97a) explains that the Gemara's intent that the table atones is that the Divrei Torah said at one's table atones.
