DAF DISCUSSIONS - SANHEDRIN 79

Peretz Porter asks:

How could such a case happen, given once a conviction has been given the sentence must be carried out that very day? Is it possible to have multiple death sentence given on the same day?

Peretz Porter, Harrisburg, PA USA

The Kollel replies:

Sholom Rav,

The Gemara, on Daf 46a, states that, as long as it is a question of the same punishment for the same sin, multiple death-sentences can be issued on the same day. The Gemara here establishes the case where they are all murderers, thereby conforming to the Gemara on Daf 46a.
