Where is there such a thing as the yolk surrounding the egg white?
shlomo Simon, Jerusalem
In the sefer Sichas Chulin p.437, by my friend Rav Amitai ben David, he writes that he did not find anything written about this point, either in the Mefarshim, or, Lehavdil, in books on natural science. He suggests that the Gemara does not mean that the yellow part surrounds and wraps around the white part. Rather it means that the yellow part stands separately at one side of the egg, and is as if it is standing on top of the white.
