My notes say that the Rambam (HIl. Shechitah 12-13) comments on the fact that tereifos which are not fatal now are still tereifos and non-tereifahs injuries in Talmudic times that are now fatal are still not tereifahs. What does he say as to why this is so?

The Tereifos are a law determined from Halacha l'Moshe mi'Sinai and are specific and eternal.
