Here it is common to eat Takenoko (see for instance http://joi.ito.com/archives/2005/05/02/takenoko.htm) which are bamboo shoots which later harder to form bamboo. It seems similar to the branches of the dekel, but the bamboo which takenoko comes from is grown so that the takenoko should be eaten. But it's a shoot of a bamboo plant.
What is the correct Bracha for Takenoko?

If the bamboo is grown for Takenoko then the bracha is"Borei Pri Hoadamah", otherwise it is "Shehakol".
See Mishnah Brurah 204:9 who explains that the Kora of a tree is "Shehakol" only since it is not grown for the Kora
