You write that Raban Gamliel "let Tavi go so he could be part of the Minyan", but you do not cite a source for this. If you check the source to which you are referring (Gitin 38b), you will see that it was not Raban Gamliel who set his Eved Kena'ani free, but Rebbi Eliezer.
