The intro to the Artscroll (it cites Tosafos, Kiddushin 55a) says that if one misuses a bedek habayis article and derives benefit from it, the BENEFIT is deconsecrated but the article is still hekdesh. Does this mean that the next person who wears the coat does NOT commit hekdesh? On the one hand, the article is still subject to meilah. On the other hand, the benefit has been deconsecrated.

I do not have an Art-scroll Gemara. I do however, have a Gemara Kidushin, and this is what Tosfos there says:
If Reuven uses a hammer belonging to Bedek ha'Bayis thinking that it is his own, and then hands it to Shimon, who uses it too, thinking that it belongs to Reuven, then both he and his friend are Mo'el to the extent that he benefited from it (because, since he did not intend to take it out of Hekdesh, it remains in the domain of Hekdesh). And however many people subsequently use the Hammer, under the same conditions, they will be Mo'el too. But if Reuven meant to take it out of the domain of Hekdesh, or if he gave it to Shimon as a gift (in which case he changed its domain), even if he actually thought that it was initially his own, he is Mo'el in respect of the entire object. This is because he took the entire hammer out of Hekdesh's domain, so that the hammer is now Chulin, and Shimon and all subsequent users are no longer Mo'el.
