What is the translation of the word "M'sim"?

1.

Rashi: It means 'men'.

2)

Why does the Torah write here "Bazaznu" and later, in 3:7, in connection with Og, "Bazonu"?

1.

Rashi (citing the Sifri): Because the vast amounts of spoil that they took from Sichon left them satiated. Consequently, they approached the spoil of Og with a degree of contempt, 1 discarding the animals and the clothes, taking only the silver and the gold.

1

"Bazonu" is from the word 'Bizuy'.

3)

Why did they take the women and children captive, like they did following the battle with Midyan?

1.

Ramban: Bearing in mind that Sichon and Og were kings of the Emori (one of the seven Cana'ani nations), this was in keeping with the Mitzvah not to leave alive a single person (man, woman or child) from the Cana'ani nations. 1

Rashi: See later 20:16.
